RE: Starcraft Air - Ducted or Not? Importance???

Heat is ducted, air is not. I wouldn't change a thing!

RE: Fresh Water at Campsite

The power of suggestion works... sometimes. My DW is a water snob, so every new campground we camp at, I always say the water tastes better than the last one. :)

RE: water damage floor starcaft travelstar

First - do you know where the leak started? What else is damaged beside the floor? Given enough money and resources, anything can be fixed, but it depends on how much work and money you want to put into a 9 year old trailer. I like to re-build, so I would gut what ever I had to and replace with like construction. BUT YOU HAVE TO FIND AND STOP THE LEAK FIRST. There are no easy answers when it come to problems like this. I wish you the best of luck.

RE: personalized plates

I use to have "LV2CAMP" on my truck, but last year I switched it to "XPLORE". In the past I have had: "HAVEFUN" "2HOT4ME" - when I lived down south in Alabama, but no one down there figured it out. "NEMISIS" "2FUN4US" - on a 1996 grand caravan with two baby seats. :) "88WAYFM" - radio station we supported (It now hangs in the radio station "MINIBUS" - same grand caravan (diffent year) "SAWDUST" - I worked in a dusty particleboard plant, I never washed the car. There were more, but I would have to look at em.

RE: spiderweb cracks

Is your trailer fiberglass? If so, then it sounds like have cracked the gel coating of the fiberglass. I would take it back and have them look at it.

RE: Fresh H2O

We are split. I don't mind water with "Flavor" so I always drink the water we fill the tank with, no mater where we get it. My wife and daughter will only drink water from a bottle. They don't like the chance of getting a tank full of water that might have "taste". :)

RE: All's Well That Ends Well

So far your "warranty" list is shorter than most peoples, so you are off to a great start. We had three trips back and a todo list of 21 items for the dealer to fix in the first 4 months. That was after I took care of the easy ones. Now we have gone 4 summers with no problems and we love our Starcraft trailer. Enjoy!!!!

RE: SHORT tow chains on my Jayco Ex-PORT 17c...Normal or not?

I haven't heard of this problem, but I would either buy new chains or I would install the add on links.

RE: Black tank dilemma

Step 1: Drain the "fresh" water out of the tank. Step 2: Check to see if the can came out. If not, go to Step 3. Step 3: Check with a flash light to see if the can through the discharge valve, if so use a coat hanger to wiggle it out. If not, go to Step 4. Step 4: Driver the trailer around the block once and repeat Step 3. If you got it then go to Step 5: Step 5: Install a tank flushing system so that you won’t have to repeat these steps again. :)

RE: Hybrids and Hailstorms

Same thing happened to us at the Mt. Rushmore a couple of weeks ago. It only lasted 10 minutes or so, but it was a long 10 minutes.

RE: Black tank care

I was very disappointed in my tornado. Before I even installed it I hooked it up to my garden hose to see how much water and at what force it would spray out. I watched it spin like a child's water toy. I remarked to myself that the sprinkler heads I installed in my yard would do a better job than the tornado would. So I cut the spinning head off the tornado and with a little rework to a PVC coupling, I mounted a 180 degree sprinkler head to the mounting bracket and installed it in my Black Tank. No I can hear it blasting the "solids" out of my tank. :) I also agree with filling the tank with water before I open the valve.

3 Weeks in our Hybrid

We just returned from a 3 week trip from MI to Seattle. We camped in storms in SD, snow in the Tetons, drove in head winds faster than the speed limit. Roads closed for snow in WY, MT, OR & WA, but our trailer and van held up great. We enjoyed as many state and national parks as we could. My kids earned 6 junior ranger badges on the trip (learning never stops for the summer). We all had a great trip. Camping is a great way to see our beautiful country!!! We left the van and camper in WA and flew home in 4 hours. Now some friends of ours are spending 3 weeks driving our van and camper back home to MI. Now it's time to catch up on 3 weeks of work that I missed.

RE: Tent / Sleeping Area Question...

Our Starcraft has two extra built in flaps that cover these areas up.

RE: Tool-less Binder Style Wheel Chocks - Build Your Own Thread

Mike - by the time the trailer is in position to clamp the wheels, the tires are not warm enough to change the air pressure enough to have to re-adjust.

RE: Tool-less Binder Style Wheel Chocks - Build Your Own Thread

The fake plastic wood parts are not as strong and they are heavier. I built mine with scrap ceader 4x4 from a deck project and built the 1/2" pipe clamps into the 4x4s so I don't need any tools for mine. Just one hand and no feet. :)

RE: ? on end of trip maintence and how fast to drive

It depends on how far we are going that day. If it's less than 2-3 hours, then I drive 55-60. If we are doing a long haul day and trying to make some miles, then it's 60-65. Never over 65, for safety and MPG.

RE: 2 flats at once - do I replace all 4 tires

Yes, replace all four. Our trailer is 5 years old and I just put 4 new Goodyear Maraton tires on it last week. Our first trip is in two weeks and a week after that we will put 8,000 miles on the trailer. So better be safe than sorry.

RE: we got our TV - finally!!

You waited for just the right TV and now gas is $3.89 a gallon. :) We looked all winter and found our dream TV just like you did. I'm still not use to filling it up with gas. The pumps shut off before the tank is full. :(

RE: Antigua brakes

I had a simlar problem a couple of years ago. When I pulled my trailer out of the storage lot, I found that some criter chewed through one of the wires. Oh how I wished it would have been a hot wire, but there was no power to the trailer. Ever since then, I store the trailer up on blocks over the winter. This increases the distance between the ground and the trailer by another 5 or 6 inches. No problem ever since.
